Things are looking up :)

A few days have passed and luckily I feel so much better! I am now just focussing on all the things I want to see and do here and doing things that make me happy, which really helps! It also meant a lot to me to get all these nice and supportive messages, comments and Skype conversations from everyone back home. Thanks guys :D

I also took the first step towards making some new friends here by going to the pub with a couple of women who (used to) work at my placement company. At times it was a bit hard to understand because of all the noise (and the cocktails probably didn't help either), but overall I had a really good time! The pub was very nice too, it looked very authentic. It's called the Dirty Bottles and it's very well-known. The name of the pub refers to a legend about the pub owner who dropped dead while touching the bottles in the window, after which his widow said that anyone who would touch the bottles would die as well. It really adds to the charm of the place!

I have been perfectly content just walking around town a bit and just doing some sightseeing. I've had three full days now to explore a bit and get to know the neighbourhood, and I think Jasper has got some competition because I'm slowly falling in love with Alnwick. :) It's just so beautiful everywhere you look! I visited Barter Books, a gorgeous and well-known second-hand book shop, and today I paid a visit to the Bailiffgate museum, which is about the history of Alnwick (and in comparison to other museums just as small as Alnwick is in comparison to other cities). I've also taken the time to sit down on a bench and read for a while, soaking up all the sun before it goes away for, like, ever. 

Tomorrow will be my first day at work! My mind is still focussed on getting used to Alnwick, so I haven't really been preparing myself for tomorrow. It's supposed to be really busy there right now.
